Looking to get a handgun for Concealed Carry

I am looking at getting a springfield XD for concealed carry, but I am not sure what to get. The 9mm is more affordable and cheaper to shoot. I have heard that the 45 is better because it has more power, but it seems a little big to carry. Any suggestions?

Very expensive (1200 to 1300) but a Springfield EMP is a awesome gun for concealed or open carry.
