Sniper Rifle .50 Caliber brand ?
Hi,

I came two weeks ago in "Get Some" and I had a very pleasant experience in using your weapons. Coming from France where the law is very restrictive, I am not ashame to say that I achieved a little boy dream in your place :).

I have one little question concerning the Sniper Rifle .50 Caliber that can be rented. Which brand/model is it ? DPMS, H&K... ? I like to be precise when talking about that.

Thank you again for this wonderful experience.

Exar.

OK, I just got to say it: this is the assualt wpns category. A 50 cal sniper rifle is not an assault wpn. For those of us who are old enuf to remember when AT&T owned the entire phone world the had a advertising slogan "Long Distance, The Next Best Thing To Being There." It used to be quite the T-shirt fashion for long gun enthusiasts. Anyway just to get this off my chest, an assault wpn IS being there.

A .50cal is an awesome assault weapon. Bolt or semi. But from your post it sounds like you've never been there. You could have just helped him out but i guess your response works..

Re: Sniper Rifle .50 Caliber brand ?
We are quite fortunate that our lawmakers here in Utah are more in-tune with the intent of the Constitution, and that in America we have the Bill of Rights to specifically protect certain God-given freedoms. There are places even in the USA where .50 BMG firearms are prohibited to citizen ownership. Hopefully the lawmakers in the those places will be brought to an understanding of the Constitution by the supreme court. It is already happening on other issues.

I'm not sure which one you saw at Get Some Guns & Ammo, but I'm sure that someone will be able to answer that.

Yeah, I have been there... that's one of the reasons VAMC 660 (the SLC VA hospital) is unfortunately my most frequently visited place here in town. I suppose you consider a 155 howitzer or an A-10 an assault weapon also. When I "was" there the company org chart did not have any sniper squads. You had to go up to the batallion level to find them under the special weapons units. But in all fairness that was me up on my soap box. A direct answer to his question would have to come from the GSG staff, which it did not. I do appologize if I ruffled anyone's feathers. But I always thought that was what forums were for... to get folks to think.
As for the definition of an assault wpn, I guess that really depends more on personal experience than anything else. After all the recent assualt wpns ban (which the drones on capitol hill fortunately let expire) orginally included the Ruger 10-22 since it could be fitted with large cpacity magazines. The 10-22 is a great plinker but I would not want to go to war with one (humor intended here.)

p.s.
In response to Jeepgunners remarks about the Constitution: that is the way it is supposed to be. The 2nd was put in there because our founding fathers did not believe the Feds had any business regulating firearms. It was intended that any regulation would be on the local level. It's one of those states rights issues. And YES, I am very glad I live here in Utah where gun ownship isn't a big deal. But they still have some a lot of bad regulations on what you can do with your guns once you leave your house; e.g. why do you need a CFP in the first place, why do my guns in my truck's rifle rack have to be unloaded, etc. etc. After all what is the point in being able to "bear arms" if they have to be in an unusuable condition.
