Instructor Training
Just looking for some general information on what specifically is required to become a licensed instructor for concealed carry. I know the state requires one of their classes, but beyond that it's not real clear ( at least to me). i would appreciate any help here. Thanks.

Re: Instructor Training
This post is over a year old, but did not receive any replies. - Others may be interested.

To become a BCI Certified Concealed Firearm Permit Instructor, you must first be an NRA Certified Firearms Insructor - Basic - with Pistol Discipline. That means you have to attend an NRA Instructor Course offered by an NRA Training Counselor (who will likely have one or more NRA Instructors with him/her). After achieving the Basic Instructor Rating, you then take the Pistol Instructor Discipline. So, in reality, two courses are necessary. Passing the written exam and marksmanship requirements do not automatically earn the rating(s). The NRA Training Counselor will work with you and observe you intently looking to see if you display the correct attitude to be Certified as an Instructor by the NRA. I have been in instructor classes with students who passed everything but the "attitude" test and were present to repeat the class a second (or more) time.

Once you have your NRA Credentials, you schedule with Utah BCI to take the Instructor's course. These courses are given often in Salt Lake and occasionally in Saint George. The cost of the course is $25 and after the course there is a written (open book) exam. Your BCI course completion certificate, a copy of your NRA Credentials, a copy of your diiver's license, a passport photo, a signed copy of your course content (most all of us use the course found on BCI Instructor Website), a permit application, and $50 go to BCI. The permit takes a week or two, but the time delay is less if you apply in person to BCI. Then, when the Credentials arrive, you have your BCI Instructor Stamp made. The businesses authorized to make the stamp will require you to supply a copy of your Utah BCI Credentials before they will make the stamp.
